Tweens & Teens

Congratulations, You’ve Been Promoted

Your child is growing up, and the job just changed. Less managing, more guiding. It’s the hardest promotion you’ll ever get, and I can help you grow into it.

The Big Shift

What worked at five doesn't work at fifteen.

Somewhere between elementary school and high school, the rules change. The child who used to tell you everything now answers "fine" and heads to their room. The strategies that used to work, like redirecting, timeouts and sticker charts, suddenly don't.

That's not a sign something is wrong. It's a sign your child is growing up. Tweens and teens need more independence, more privacy and more say in their own lives. They also still need you, just differently.

I'll help you understand what's happening, stay connected through the changes, and find a calm, confident way to guide your teen.

Your role is changing
from manager, to coach, to trusted guide

As kids grow, the most effective parents shift how they lead. Knowing where your child is helps you know what they need from you.

1

Little Kids

You're the Manager

You set the routines, make most decisions and keep them safe. They need structure, consistency and lots of connection.

2

Tweens

You're the Coach

They start making more choices, and some will be wrong. You teach, practice and let them learn from small mistakes while the stakes are low.

3

Teens

You're the Trusted Guide

They make more of their own decisions. Your job is to stay calm, share your values and be the safe place they come back to.

How I Can Help

New stage, new challenges

These are some of the things parents of tweens and teens bring to me most often.

Pulling Away

Closed doors and one-word answers. How to stay close while giving them room to grow.

Phones & Screens

Setting limits that stick, without turning every evening into a battle.

Big Emotions

Eye rolls, slammed doors and sudden storms. Staying calm when they can't.

Friends & Social Pressure

Helping them handle friendships, group chats and fitting in.

School Stress & Motivation

Homework fights, grades and the "why bother?" phase.

Independence & Trust

Curfews, rides, first jobs, and how much freedom is the right amount.

"We had been working with her for the last year to navigate through some challenges with our teenager, and she was and is able to help us change our approach and become more present and positive parents."
